New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat were cremated by their daughters after they were accorded military honours at Brar Square on Friday, 10 December.
Scores of political leaders and Armed Forces personnel paid their last respects to them at their residence earlier.
Earlier in the day, Brigadier LS Lidder was cremated with full military honours. Lidder was the defence assistant to General Rawat.
An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, which was carrying CDS General Rawat, crashed in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor on Wednesday, 8 December, leading to the unexpected demise of Rawat, his wife, and 11 other officials.
- Scores of political leaders including Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and MK Stalin paid respects on Friday at Rawat’s residence, where his mortal remains were kept before the funeral

- Teams of the IAF and local Police investigated the site of the crash in Coonoor earlier on Friday
- PM Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and NSA Ajit Doval paid their last respects to CDS Rawat and other Armed Forces personnel, whose mortal remains were brought to the Palam Airbase in Delhi on Thursday
